The USB 2.0 Interface

The USB2 interface is intended for upgrading the old 'parallel port' cameras to USB operation. It effectively converts the camera into an 'SXV' unit, although the download speed is limited by the slower A-D converter of the camera. The download speed is, however, a great deal faster than that offered by the parallel port - typically about 5x the parallel rate. Other functions are also added, such as built-in 'STAR2000' control and the ability to use an SXV guide camera for autoguiding your telescope.

This interface avoids the installation issues of the older USB1.1 version and will work with any modern computer and version of the Windows operating system.

The USB2 interface uses the same USB drivers as the SXV camera range. You will need SXVIO.sys and Generic.sys in Windows\System32\Drivers and SXVinterface.inf in Windows\Inf. When installed and connected, a device called 'BlockIOClass' will appear in Device Manager and should show a 'Starlight Xpress USB2.0 SXV interface driver' as its contents. The interface will operate with the SXV-H5 and any of the SXV-M* camera programs, but you need to disable the 'Check VID/PID' option in 'Set program defaults' or the software will fail to recognise the interface.
