Download the SX
filter wheel ASCOM driver installer version 1012
This driver package contains the ASCOM driver
installer and a useful filter wheel test and control program.
Before starting, you will need to have ASCOM 6.0, or above,
installed. Please visit the ASCOM web site at http://ascom-standards.org/
to download this. Once ASCOM is installed, unzip the SX driver
package and run the 'StarlightXpress setup.exe' file. This will
install the SX drivers and you are then ready to go.
First, connect your filter wheel and then try
using the SX control panel program - 'SXFW_Ascom_Tester.exe'.
You will first see a small panel with a pull down window - use
this to select 'Starlight Xpress Filter Wheel'. Now press
'Properties' and you will see the filter wheel setup panel, in
which you can define the filter types and focal offsets (if
required). Once finished, press 'OK' to close the panel, then
press 'OK' on the main window. The filter wheel control panel
now appears and you can use this to test the wheel, or use it
for an imaging session.
To use the ASCOM driver in MaximDL, first
connect your camera and filter wheel. Now open the camera dialog
box and select 'Setup Filter'. Set 'ASCOM' and then click on
'Advanced' - the ASCOM filter wheel chooser appears and you can
select 'Starlight Xpress Filter Wheel' and use the 'Properties'
button to set up the filter colours etc. Go back by clicking the
various OK buttons and complete by setting up your camera.
